About me

Darryl McCullagh 1For the last twenty plus years I have worked in the caring sector. At sixteen I started my career by working as a care assistant in Nursing homes, then onto Support Work with adults with Challenging behavior and Learning Disabilities in community care. I have also worked with young adolescents in secure accommodation and in residential settings. As well as my Hypnotherapy Practice, I also have a Hypnobirthing practice called Relax n’ Birth and I am a Lecturer in Psychotherapeutic Counselling at Stranmillis.

Why I became a Hypnotherapist and Hypnobirthing Practitioner

I have been interested in hypnosis for a very long time and hypnotised my first person at the tender age of fourteen. In the early days, all of my
knowledge came from a dog eared book I found in a bargain bin in a secondhand book store. Thankfully over the years, I have gained knowledge from various other avenues and became interested in the link between therapy and hypnotism rather than the street/stage hypnotism I previously enjoyed. I have a degree in Psychology and through my work gained qualification in NLP / CBT and behavior management.

I am registered as a Hypnotherapist with The National Hypnotherapy Society, and below is my current registration certificate with the society. CHS certYou can also click on the Society banner below to be taken to their website.

As a Hypnobirthing Practitioner I am registered with Hypnobirthing Practitioners© and qualified to show you the natural way to give birth.

Hypnobirthing Practitioners are trained by Hypnobirthing Practitioners© and have to
obtain a high standard to receive their Certification. I have studied how the body works in childbirth, how to avoid unnecessary intervention so that birthing is achieved naturally.

Hypnobirthing Practitioners© receive Hypnotherapy training from the Guild of Advanced Hypnotherapists.

Mothers-to-be are asked to provide feed back on their classes, which
Hypnobirthing Practitioners© monitor to ensure the classes are being delivered in a safe and professional manner.

In September 2015 , I was successful in getting a Lecturers position with Chrysalis Not For Profit Courses (Click on name to be taken to their website if you fancy a career in Hypnotherapy/Psychotherapy or counselling). With Chrysalis I will teach Level 1 Certificate in Hypnotherapy and counselling skills at Stranmillis College.
